Been driving a car with this feature for about three months now and honestly I’m starting to wonder if the fuel savings are even real or just something they put on the brochure to make us feel better. My daily commute is basically from Dubai South all the way to Business Bay, so I’m sitting in some kind of traffic jam for at least an hour each morning and evening. The engine cuts out constantly, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for a minute, and I’m watching that little green light come on thinking okay this must be helping. But then I look at my average consumption at the end of the week and it’s pretty much the same as my old car that didn’t have this feature. I was reading through some stuff online trying to find practical advice for modern vehicle efficiency that applies to our situation here because most of the reviews are from places where traffic moves differently. There was this one article from a UAE site that explained how the system works with the battery and alternator but it didn’t really answer whether it pays off in the long run. Maybe the savings are so tiny you don’t notice them? Or maybe because the AC is always fighting to keep the car cool the engine has to work harder when it restarts and that cancels out the benefit. Curious if anyone has actually tracked their fuel economy with and without the system enabled because I’m thinking of just turning it off permanently if it’s not doing much.
