Older Vanquish needing some TLC and I’m hoping there’s someone local who actually knows these cars
My uncle left me his 2006 Vanquish S when he moved back to the UK last year and while I’m incredibly grateful for the gift I’m also slowly realizing that keeping a twenty year old Aston Martin happy in the Abu Dhabi heat is a completely different ballgame compared to my usual Lexus daily driver. The car runs strong but there’s a weird creak from the rear suspension over speed bumps and the paddle shifters feel a bit lazy like the fluid needs a proper flush and maybe a TCU reset that the generic OBD scanner at the petrol station couldn’t figure out. I’ve been scouring forums and Facebook groups trying to find an Aston Martin Specialist Mechanic Abu Dhabi who won’t just scratch their head and tell me to go to the dealer because these older VH platform cars have their own unique personality quirks that someone who only works on modern stuff just wouldn’t appreciate. I’m not trying to win any concours events I just want the old girl to drive like she should and not let me down on a cruise to Jebel Hafeet and I’d rather give my business to a smaller shop that actually enjoys working on these hand built oddities instead of a dealership that sees it as an inconvenient relic. Any leads on a guy in Mussafah or even Al Ain who has a soft spot for the era when Aston still used Volvo keys and Ford switchgear would be a huge help right now.
